When Morgan and Dylan decided to get married in New Orleans, they knew they wanted a wedding that felt beautiful, welcoming, and distinctly Louisiana. Although the couple was living in New York, Dylan’s family was from New Orleans, making the city a meaningful choice for their wedding day.
With their venue already booked at Southern Oaks, Morgan and Dylan brought Magnolia Ceremonies on board for partial planning. Over the course of the year leading up to their wedding, we helped bring all of the moving pieces together — from vendor communication and logistics to the little details that helped make their vision a reality.
The result was a beautiful New Orleans wedding filled with family, great food, music, and plenty of Southern charm.
Planning a New Orleans Wedding From New York
Planning a wedding from another state can come with its own set of challenges. When you aren’t local to the area, you may not know which vendors to contact, how far vendors are from your venue, what questions to ask, or how all of the logistics will come together on the wedding day.
That’s where having a local planning team can make such a difference.
Throughout Morgan and Dylan’s planning process, Magnolia Ceremonies served as a local point of contact and helped keep communication moving between the couple and their wedding vendors. There were plenty of emails, questions, confirmations, timelines, details, and decisions along the way — all with the goal of making sure every vendor understood what Morgan and Dylan envisioned for their wedding.
We maintained extensive communication with the venue, Southern Oaks, throughout the planning process to make sure everyone was on the same page and that the plans for the wedding day came together smoothly.
Vendor Management From Start to Finish
One of the biggest parts of our role was complete vendor management for the vendors we helped secure for the wedding.
We coordinated with:
- Leaf + Petal for the floral design
- Haydel’s Bakery for the wedding cake
- The Cigar Factory for the cigars
- Prestige Limo Services for transportation
- The Marriott on Canal Street for the hotel block
- Glam on Location for hair and makeup
- Southern Oaks for venue communication and logistics
Our job wasn’t simply to recommend vendors and hand over a phone number. We stayed involved throughout the process, communicating with vendors, confirming details, answering questions, relaying information, and making sure everyone understood the couple’s plans.
For a couple living in New York and planning a wedding in New Orleans, having someone local who could help manage those conversations was especially valuable.
Helping With the Details That Make a Wedding Feel Personal
Wedding planning isn’t always about the big decisions. Sometimes it’s the smaller details that take up the most mental space.
Throughout the planning process, we helped Morgan and Dylan work through questions about favors and other wedding-day details, offering advice and helping them make decisions that fit the overall feel of their celebration.
That’s one of the things we love most about partial planning. You don’t necessarily need someone to make every decision for you. Sometimes you simply need an experienced planner who can step in when you need guidance, communicate with vendors, help solve problems, and keep everything moving forward.
Making Sure the Vendors Understood the Vision
One of the most important parts of our role was making sure Morgan and Dylan’s vision didn’t get lost between the planning conversations and the actual wedding day.
That meant a lot of communication.
We emailed vendors, confirmed details, answered questions, passed information along, and made sure the different pieces of the wedding worked together. When you’re working with multiple vendors, communication is what connects everything.
Our goal was to make sure that when the wedding day arrived, everyone knew what they were responsible for and what Morgan and Dylan were expecting.
And it paid off.
The vendors we coordinated with all came together beautifully, and everything went off without a hitch.
Wedding Day at Southern Oaks
After a year of planning, the wedding day finally arrived at Southern Oaks.
And it was beautiful.
Rhonda, of Magnolia Ceremonies, also had the honor of officiating Morgan and Dylan’s ceremony. Being able to support the couple throughout the planning process and then stand with them as they officially became husband and wife made the day especially meaningful.
The celebration had so many of the things that make a New Orleans wedding unforgettable.
There was a second line band bringing that unmistakable New Orleans energy to the celebration. Guests enjoyed delicious seafood, surrounded by the beautiful setting at Southern Oaks, and the entire day felt like a wonderful combination of the couple’s vision and the city that held special meaning for their family.
Most importantly, all of the pieces that had been planned over the previous year came together exactly as they were supposed to.
The flowers arrived. The cake was ready (& gorgeous). Transportation was handled. Hair and makeup were taken care of. The cigars were there. The hotel arrangements were in place. The venue was ready. The ceremony went beautifully.
And Morgan and Dylan were able to focus on getting married and celebrating with the people they love.
Your New Orleans Wedding Doesn’t Have to Be Planned Alone
Morgan and Dylan’s wedding is a great example of why partial planning can be such a valuable option — especially when you’re planning a wedding from outside Louisiana.
You may already have your venue booked. You may have a good idea of what you want your wedding to look like. You may even have some vendors secured.
That doesn’t mean you have to handle every email, every vendor question, every timeline detail, and every logistical decision yourself.
At Magnolia Ceremonies, our partial planning services are designed to meet couples where they are in the planning process. We can step in to help manage vendors, coordinate details, provide recommendations and advice, communicate with your venue, and help turn your ideas into an organized wedding-day plan.
And if you’re planning your New Orleans wedding from another state, having a local team on your side can make the entire process feel much more manageable.
Morgan and Dylan trusted us to help bring their New Orleans wedding vision to life, and we were honored to be part of it from the planning process all the way through their wedding day.
Congratulations, Morgan and Dylan! We are so grateful that Magnolia Ceremonies got to be part of your beautiful New Orleans celebration.
